SELWG Diorama competition
After the recent unearthing of our Naseby Shield trophy by a relative of a former club member (the last winner of the trophy Clive Nightingale all the way back in 1999!) we decided to revived the competition and see what our members could produce. So at this year’s AGM some of the members submitted Dioramas for our resident expert in all things hobby, Kev Dallimore, to judge and pick a winner.
After much deliberation Kev bestowed the honour of 2026 Champion of Diorama building went to… Simon Chandler with a a fantastic Starship Troopers diorama, what the photos don’t show is that he managed to wire in a soundboard to play either Klendathu Drop or Fed Net March when a button is pressed. Both tunes are from the movie and added an excellent extra dimension to the piece.
Whilst Si’s diorama was certainly a worthy winner all the other entries showed a great amount of creativity and skill, with subjects from a wide range of wargamming spaces - Sci-fi, Historic and Fantasy were all represented:
BBBL Winter classic iv
January saw four SELWG members taking teams to Troll Trader’s BBBL Winter Classic IV Blood Bowl Tournament; The Sydenhiem Stackers, Knifey Spooney, The Neversober Vikings and Cryst-Skull Palace. As is the tradition with SELWG members and tournaments our teams finished mid-table or below, with The Sydenhiem Stackers finishing in the best position (13th out of 32 teams!).
However there was one significant victory on the day - Max, with his Snotling team Knifey Spooney, did walk away with the prize for best painted!
