A pickup, throwdown Doomtown Tournament for Gencon UK
The Place: Everywhere. The Time: All the time

Lookin' fer a game of Doomtown? You can't go far wrong at Gencon UK this year. As well as the official UK Championships, and other side tournaments planned in the Esdevium Room, there will be an open challenge pickup tournament running all weekend. All you need to do is bring yer decks, and sign up. Entry is free!

The first prize for this tournament will be a replica Colt Peacemaker. This perfect non-firing replica will only be given away if 50 games are played over the weekend, however, so every game counts. Other prizes will be available for the player with the most games, the player with the best win/loss rate, and the player with the worst win/loss rate. Any player playing a game with every faction in the game, including the Coalition who count as a separate faction, also wins a prize. More prizes may be given out depending on what I can get together and what AEG send. Donations accepted :)

The rules are dead simple- you'll get a full sheet with your score sheet, but here's the skinny. All you have to do is find me, which shouldn't be too hard, and get yourself a score sheet and a badge. I'll be the guy with Tombstone Frank's head and a replica pistol, can't be too hard. I'll be attending every 7th Sea and Doomtown tournament and for the rest of the time I'll be around wherever there's space for a Doomtown game. I'm known to a lot of folks who'll be attending, so if you're stuck, just ask around. I'll be flypostering the place on the weekend with a poster with my mugshot on...)

You can play as many or as few games as you want, but you can only play any given opponent once in 2-player with any given deck. For example:
Game 1: I play you with my Blackjacks deck, while you use your Sweetrock deck.
Game 2: I can't play you again in 2-player with my Blackjacks, and you can't use your Sweetrock deck against me either.

There's no such restriction in multipayer- free for all!

At the end of the weekend, get your sheet back to me however you can - there'll be a collection envelope somewhere in the Esdevium Room, and you can give the sheets back at any time over the weekend. The tournament ends at 1pm on Sunday, and prizes will be given out as soon as the scores are calculated.

The idea is to have a great time, play a lot of games, and maybe walk away with a few prizes, so what's stopping you?
The full rules are listed below. You'll also get a copy of this sheet when you enter. The only other thing I ask, is please bring a safety pin and a common card to help me with the badges :)

TOWN BYLAWS

  1. Only games against other people in the pick-up tournament count.
  2. You can only challenge an opponent when you’re both wearing your name badges. Your opponent can refuse, but keep to the spirit of things, eh?
  3. Games in other tournaments do NOT count.
  4. If you lose your sheet, then you lose those points. Tough, but there’s no other way to do it. If you lose your badge, come find me and get another (or make your own.) If you finish a sheet, come get another.
  5. You can challenge anyone, any time, any place, anywhere, as long as you’re both wearing your badges. The only restriction is that you can only play any opponent once in two player with a given faction. IE if you’ve played someone in a duel using a Flock deck, you can’t play him or her again in a duel with the Flock. Multiplayer has no such restrictions at all.
  6. You may ante for games if you want- this must be agreed by both parties beforehand and can be anything you want- cards, ghost rock, drinks… Just keep it legal. And decent. And remember, no money gambling of any kind.
  7. 3 points for a win, 1 point for a loss, no ties.
  8. There is no formal judge. If you have a rules question, try to sort it out between yourselves or draft in an impartial third party if there’s one around. If I’m nearby and not busy, I’ll call it for you. If you can’t agree in any way, then chalk it up to experience and stop the game- record it on your sheet, but you get only 1 point each.
  9. Timeouts: If one person needs to leave early, they lose. You may agree a finishing time in advance, if you hit that time, tiebreak by the normal rules. No draws.
  10. The Flock and Lost Angels are distinct factions. The Coalition is also considered to be a distinct faction, so you may play an opponent with a Rangers, Agency and Coalition deck.
  11. Prizes will be handed out on Sunday afternoon, in the Esdevium Room. You need to get your sheet back to me by 1pm- you can find me hanging around wherever Doomtown or 7th Sea is happening, or in the trade hall, or you can phone me on 07796 896173. If you have to leave early, then you can still collect any prizes- just make sure you note your address and contact methods on the sheet somewhere, and I’ll be in touch. Be warned though, if you win a heavy prize, you’re paying the postage!
  12. All results will be posted on the Internet after the Convention. Any photographs collected may also be used in this way. By joining the tournament you accept that your name and image may be used in this way, and in tournament reports.

Hope that's all clear... Any questions at all, drop me an email at techie@techie.f9.co.uk and I'll answer right up until the 29th, when I leave for the big smoke.
